Camiguin is a secluded island along the northern tip of Mindanao. It was in 2009 during  a photography class field trip that i finally got to visit the place. We stayed there for 2 days and 1 night, going places and taking photographs.

It took us almost 8 hours by bus to arrive at the port where a barge was waiting to take us to the island of Camiguin. I think it was around 5am when we finally headed to the island for another 30 minutes. I was asleep the whole time while in the barge because I get seasick , and it was the best thing to do. When I opened my eyes, hello Sunrise ! finally we’re in Camiguin!

But nothing was faster than how we spent our day. We went to the cold spring (i think they used sulfur water there, but i have no idea what difference it makes), the old Church ruins, the sunken cemetery, the white island , the water falls , and a hot spring.

Camiguin island is bordered by huge mountain ranges so they have a lot of natural hot springs and cold springs which are frequented by visitors and tourists. For me, the best part of the trip was landing in ‘white island’ which is not exactly an island. It a sandbar which appears when water level goes down and vanishes after some time. The place was perfect, so perfect in fact that any picture you took was of post card quality. The view was a plus. There were mountain ranges everywhere , and nature conspired to bring out its best colors. The sky looked even better against the lush green of the mountains and landscapes.  It was a movie with very good lighting.

Naturally, I miss the place. Lucky I have photographs to remind me that i was once a sea creature in the waters of Camiguin.

(This was taken two years ago. It’s not that difficult to tell because I’m still kinda skinny here)
