Make up Trial # 1 : Arabic Eyes
I never realized how much of a stress reliever cosmetology can be until I actually got obsessed with it. At first I was just watching tutorial videos, then I started buying cosmetics to my heart’s content, and next thing I knew I was actually practicing on myself.
It all started when we were tasked to perform an Afghan dance in the Asian festival for one of my subjects. I took it as an excuse to research on how to achieve the ‘Arabic eyes’ which is a well defined, smoky cat’s eye. Ate Jael, my pseudo sister, taught me some techniques and also lent me some of her stuff since I didn’t have any (I only started buying when I got really hooked).
Here is my first attempt in achieving the ‘Arabic eye’ look. And in case you don’t have any idea what it looks like, here you go:

I have typically small oriental eyes and it was rather difficult to come as close as possible to these Arabic women. Their eyes are deep seated and big.

The first part was applying liquid foundation and primer or base for the eye shadow. I used only one shade for the eye shadow and the rest was eyeliner cream. For this particular look, I used LA Colors glitter eye shadow (which i don’t recommend because of the annoying glitters). The eyeliner cream which did the magic was e.l.f. brand.

Here’s what it looks like from different angles and lighting. For the lips, I used Avon, which was kinda pink, as base and MaryKay nude lipstick as final coating. And the final result , TADAA!!….

I didn’t use a mascara (I don’t have one) and I could have worn the false lashes except that it was really difficult to apply and i might ruin the whole thing. The picture on the left is a prototype of the look I was trying to achieve.
